A world, not a backdrop
You are not the chosen one. You are one of thousands of pioneers taking part in humanity’s greatest scientific, engineering, and social undertaking.
Begin with a temporary habitat, a rover, limited supplies, basic tools, and a personal AI companion. What follows is not just survival—it is the gradual construction of a permanent world beyond Earth.
Four ways to contribute
Survey Mars, investigate anomalies, recover knowledge, and open new operational zones.
Chart the frontier ›Turn discoveries and raw materials into tools, habitats, infrastructure, and settlements.
Follow the journey ›Develop professions, trade, automation, cooperation, and institutions that endure.
Read our promise ›The four pillars of civilization
Energy, water, oxygen, and food are not disposable crafting meters. They are connected systems whose generation, storage, distribution, maintenance, and recovery determine what a station can support.
Powers habitat pressure, extraction, agriculture, research, industry, and transport.
Generation → storage → transfer → reserveMoves from ice and recycling through purification, storage, agriculture, and industry.
Extract → purify → distribute → reclaimSupports pioneers, habitats, vehicles, expeditions, visitors, and industrial systems.
Generate → store → circulate → reserveGrows from rations into hydroponics, greenhouses, nutrition, culture, and trade.
Cultivate → process → supply → recoverEnergy powers water extraction. Water supports food and oxygen. Food and oxygen support population. Population creates knowledge, specialization, and stronger systems.
The first great victory is self-sufficiency.The Ares Codex
There are no rigid classes, traditional experience levels, or timers that make you wait to learn. The Codex expands through what you do: explore, survive, construct, research, manufacture, trade, cooperate, and defend.
Planned system Authored public preview · No hidden solutions
One character. An expanding responsibility.
Progress is not merely larger numbers. It is greater knowledge, responsibility, capability, and contribution. You may specialize naturally, but no permanent class prevents you from learning another way to help.
A living network of worlds
Ares Initiative is designed as a network of persistent operational zones. New regions extend the universe without replacing the stations, history, and communities pioneers have already built.
Starter parcels, habitat construction, authoritative movement, and the first shared foothold.

The Ares Initiative begins in the late 22nd century as humanity’s largest colonization and engineering project—not an escape plan, but a test of whether a sustainable civilization can be created beyond Earth.
Beneath that new beginning lies evidence of an advanced prehuman Martian civilization whose attempt to control a planetary energy system may have helped destroy the world it built.
Archive classification / Provisional
Greek mythology is humanity’s language for the unknown—not literal Aurelian history. Names such as Prometheus, Atlas, and Tartarus are expedition labels that may prove incomplete, inaccurate, or dangerously misleading.
Authored history, institutions, locations, eras, discoveries, crises, and expeditions.
What happened?Evidence, science, technologies, equipment, structures, and connected capabilities.
What have we learned?Verified discoveries, milestones, rescues, crises, memorials, and achievements created by players.
What history did we create?Humans name the unknown after their oldest stories, but the unknown is not obligated to match them.
Ares archaeological principle
The Ares Chronicle
Planned system Publication requires verified game events and review
A permanent record of the pioneers who establish reliable local power, water, oxygen, and food.
Archaeological or scientific evidence that materially changes the accepted record.
The world remembers not only triumph, but the losses and collective effort that shaped it.
Open development record
The current build proves a persistent shared Landing Zone, server-owned characters and movement, claimable parcels, and the first personal habitat construction flow. The wider vision remains explicitly staged.
Land, claim a station, gather, build, learn, trade, and achieve self-sufficiency.
Operational zones, automation, manufacturing, professions, and public settlements.
Cities, regional infrastructure, underground worlds, institutions, and terraforming.
Orbit, moons, asteroids, interplanetary logistics, and new worlds.
Recent completed work
A claimed parcel now becomes a persistent place to begin building a home.
Pioneers can enter, move, reconnect, and return to authoritative Mars.
The public mission site and game entry now share one platform without competing for attention.
The developer promise
One straightforward subscription, billed monthly, supports servers, development, new content, accessibility, support, and long-term maintenance. Every subscriber plays under the same rules.
Your work makes Mars safer, more connected, more populated, and more beautiful.
Build a meaningful home alone. Build civilization through cooperation and trade.
Interacting systems create stories no designer could completely predict.
No premium currency, loot boxes, battle passes, paid power, progress, or convenience.
The game will never create inconvenience in order to sell convenience.
Follow the mission
Ares Initiative is being built in public through documented decisions, small playable milestones, and evidence. The development app is available for the current private-test workflow.
